Who I work with
I work with researchers, practitioners and organisations working across environmental science, policy, communication and practice, with a particular interest in rural and regional landscapes and communities.
My current focus is on environmental and water contexts, including natural resource management, Landcare, conservation, water management, research and policy. Clients and collaborators have included government agencies, research centres and universities, environmental organisations, community foundations, leadership programs and cross-sector initiatives.
Where language meets practice
My work explores how language shapes meaning in complex social-ecological systems. Drawing on applied ecolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, social neuroscience and systems thinking, I examine how frames, metaphors, values, narratives and other language choices influence perception, reasoning and judgement.
This work has been applied across environmental stewardship, biodiversity and conservation, water and natural resource management, climate adaptation, research translation, community connection and values-based communication.
Understanding these patterns provides a stronger basis for more intentional communication, clearer explanation and constructive collaboration.
